Seats Filled Through NEET UG 2024-25? NMC Urges MBBS Students to Verify Admission Status

In a significant development, the National Medical Commission (NMC) announced that over 97.5% of MBBS seats in India have been filled for the academic year 2024-25. The Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) has also urged newly admitted MBBS first-year students to verify if their names are listed on the official website, nmc.org.in.
In an official notification, the NMC stated, “Students who got admission in Graduate Level Medical Education (MBBS) for the Academic Year 2024-25 and their names are not reflected in the list may consult the concerned Directorate of Medical Education / Counselling Authority urgently.”
As per the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in April 2025, India has a total of 1,18,190 MBBS seats. Out of these, 1,15,250 seats have already been filled through the NEET UG 2024-25 counselling process, conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
NEET UG Counselling 2024-25 Overview
The MCC began the NEET UG counselling on August 14, 2024, for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats. The process included three rounds of special stray vacancy counselling to ensure maximum seat allotment. The counselling concluded on December 30, 2024, following delays caused by multiple court cases regarding exam transparency.
Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET UG 2025 exam on May 4, with nearly 23 lakh candidates appearing. The result is expected to be declared on June 14, 2025, at neet.nta.nic.in.
