Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics (MDAE), Mumbai is inviting applications for a one-year postgraduate programme in Data Science and Finance. The last date for application is May 31.
Graduates from any stream with minimum 50% or equivalent score can apply for this programme. The admission process will include three steps— screening of applications, entrance test and personal interview.
According to MDAE, at the end of the programme, the students can rightfully claim knowledge of critical Data Science, Finance and Technology skills like Statistical Analysis Programming, Data Management & Visualisation tools such as – Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Machine learning. Domain knowledge of finance – Corporate finance, Financial Statements, Quant Finance. New age technologies – Fintech, Robotic Process Automation (RPA’s), Digital Banking HFT’s, Blockchain & Cryptocurrency, etc are also a part of the curriculum. The course comprises nine months of classroom-based training followed by three months of an internship/capstone project. This will allow the students to apply some of the core principles gathered through the course to solve real-world problems.
According to a press communique, MDAE claims that it’s alumni from the course are currently studying at reputable institutions like Harvard University, Oxford University, Duke University, University of Texas at Dallas and The University of Colorado Boulder.
PGP Data Science and Finance course at MDAE is an excellent exception that helps students from all verticals to join the emerging field with its programme that builds the foundation of data science from the very scratch. From the last year’s batch of 2021-22, more than 60% of students were from non-IT backgrounds.
The course comprises in-class coding by the faculty and students. The institute stated that the students will gain valuable insights into and appreciation for algorithms. The programme includes continuous assessment patterns that are focussed on helping students refine a host of skills that form the bedrock of data science – problem solving, algorithmic thinking, programming, data wrangling and analysis, visualisation and machine learning.
