West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee will meet students who have returned from war-torn Ukraine at Khudiram Anushilan on March 16.

Students from various districts of Bengal who have returned from Ukraine have been asked to register themselves for the interactive session. District magistrate have been asked to notify the students. The state has also made arrangements to bring them to the stadium in Kolkata.

“We have requested students who have returned from Ukraine to join the interaction. Necessary invitations have been sent to them,” said an official. The meeting is scheduled at 12.30pm.

Banerjee had earlier offered free domestic air tickets and transport back home from Kolkata airport to students returning from Ukraine.

About 300 medical students from West Bengal have been evacuated Ukraine. The state government set up a special control room on February 25 to help people of Bengal stranded in Ukraine.

Many of the students are worried about whether they will be able to resume studies. Indian students back from Ukraine have already filed a public interest litigation in the Supreme Court, seeking permission to complete their medical studies in India.
