Jamia Millia Islamia's Residential Coaching Academy (RCA), under the Centre for Coaching and Career Planning, has opened applications for its free UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) coaching programme for the year 2025. The programme, which includes hostel accommodation, aims to support minorities, SCs, STs, and women candidates in their UPSC CSE preparations.

Prospective candidates can start submitting their applications from March 18, 2024, with the deadline set for May 19, 2024. A notification from JMI outlines that applicants will have the opportunity to make corrections to their application forms during a specified window on May 21-22, 2024.

The entrance test, scheduled for June 1, 2024, will take place across ten examination centres including Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Mumbai, Patna, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Malappuram.

Entrance Test Pattern

It consists of two papers: Paper I covering General Studies and Paper II focusing on Essay writing. Paper I will be an objective type exam following the UPSC model and can be attempted in English, Hindi or Urdu. Similarly, Paper II offers the option of English, Hindi or Urdu as language mediums. The exam duration totals 3 hours, with 2 hours allocated for General Studies and 1 hour for the Essay section. As per standard practice, one-third of the marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.

Selection Criteria

Candidates' merit in Paper I will determine the evaluation of their essays, with only the top 900 students progressing to the next stage. Shortlisted candidates will undergo an online interview. In case of a tie, preference will be given based on the candidate's performance in the interview stage, followed by age, with younger candidates getting precedence.

Eligibility Requirements

The programme is open to graduates eligible to apply for UPSC CSE 2025.
