Union Home Minister, Amit Shah on Monday hailed the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, saying, “A time will come when people from all over the world will come in large numbers to study in Indian educational institutions, which will figure among the best international academic institutions.”

Shah while addressing a seminar on India’s new education policy, on the occasion of birth centenary of former BJP President late Kusabhau Thakre, stated that earlier policies were holistically designed to create successful professionals with time, but NEP 2020 aims to not only create successful professionals, but make a student a great human being as well. Through the guidelines of the NEP 2020, India will witness a massive transformation achieving new heights in the field of education. The event was held at the Mansarovar Hall of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly complex.

He further added that the new policy focuses on creating the best ideas for the educational field in India, and particularly aims to prioritise Indian arts, culture and native languages and mother tongue as well. NEP, approved by the Union Cabinet in 2020, is the soul of India and a prime declaration of Indianness. Affordability, accessibility, quality, fairness and accountability, being the five prime pillars of NEP according to Shah.

“The NEP that Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented in 2020 will make the country's children great human beings. It will also make India a great nation which will shine bright like the Sun in the entire world,” Shah said. The policies as discussed thoroughly will lay great emphasis on domains like analysis, reasoning, benefiting both the teachers and students professionally. Building great personalities will mark the transformation of India through NEP 2020 said the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah.

He stated that earlier whenever the education policies were either implemented or discussed, they faced several oppositions, but with NEP it was different because the whole agenda was thoroughly discussed before being put into action.

Amit Shah extended his heartfelt congratulations to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for introducing technical and medical education courses in Hindi in the state. "With emphasis on research and development, by 2040 we will be ahead of many nations," he said. Promotion and pursuance of technology will significantly reduce school dropout rates, enhancing the education quality of India.

NEP 2020, is the first education policy of the 21st century and aims to address the many growing developmental imperative of the country, proposing the revision and revamping of every other aspect of the education structure. Diverse options between the undergraduate (UG) courses, multiple entry and exit options in degree courses, extra addition of 3.5 crore seats in higher education institutions and improved fee structure were among the higher education reforms outlined in the new NEP.
