The Research and Innovation (R&I) Park of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has been awarded the prestigious Façade Project of the Year Award 2021 by Construction Week India.

The R&I Park at IIT Delhi is spread over 300,000 sqft and set in an exquisite landscape. It offers various utility services such as restaurant, ATM, convention centre, parking space and more

Several entries from all over India were received for the award and R&I of IIT Delhi was selected through a rigorous evaluation process.

“The R&I Park is slated to become a prominent centre for research and innovation leading to advanced technology platforms and deep-tech start-ups. The park is expected to strengthen the techno-entrepreneurship ecosystem and contribute to the regional economic development,” said Anil Wali, managing director, FITT, IIT Delhi.

The criteria for judging included architectural merit, contribution to the built environment, façade engineering as a discipline, application of innovation and uniqueness of application, focus on timely completion, quality and complexity of the project and its sustainability.

IIT Delhi director V. Ramgopal Rao briefed this R&I Park as a physical assembly of spaces that will support the institute, industry and government collaboration with the intention to create high-technology economic development, advancing knowledge while focusing on product innovation.

“The R&l Park has been designed with an emphasis on sustainability, with flexible spatial configurations (of laboratories, offices, suites, multimedia) and modern state of the art amenities offering numerous resources to the users,” said J.T. Shahu, dean of infrastructure, IIT Delhi.

The main objectives of the state-of-the-art research park was to accelerate research translation, provide avenues for IIT Delhi students and faculty to interact more closely with industry and bring to market technological breakthroughs through incubation. It also aims to amplify technological and societal impact of R&D at IIT Delhi and galvanise the entrepreneurial aspirations.
