How to deal with online education in pandemic times will be the focus of a webinar hosted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, in collaboration with Decision, a quarterly journal of the B-school, on March 5.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the landscape of the education sector around the world. Educators everywhere have been forced to adapt to online teaching to continue the learning process.

IIM Calcutta has planned the webinar titled ‘Dealing with Online and Blended Education in Modern Challenging Times’ as a platform where the challenges and impact of online teaching and learning can be discussed. The consequences of using a hybrid education system will also be a part of the discussion.

Topics related to education technology, roles of stakeholders in the education sector and educational outcomes across all levels of education – pre-schooling, primary and secondary schooling, vocational and technical education and tertiary education – will be discussed during the conference.

The conference will begin with a keynote speech and end with a panel discussion. The panel is set to discuss the challenges that the education sector faced in the pandemic, the role of online and blended education and the essential policies and programmes that can help overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic.

IIM Calcutta had earlier invited research papers on this topic. Papers selected from the submission will be published in the special June 2022 edition of the institute’s flagship journal, Decision. Candidates will be notified on February 15 about the selection of their papers. The best paper will be announced during the webinar.

The institute’s peer-reviewed, quarterly journal Decision has been in publication since 1974. The journal has been dedicated to capturing the evolution of management in the national and regional contexts over decades.

Springer has been publishing the journal since 2013. The issues of the journal come out in March, June, September and December. Decision accepts submission in several formats on organisational, individual, socio-economic-political, and environmental decision making with relevance to theory and practice of business.
