Haryana Education Board: Study of Moral Science mandatory for Class 9-12 students

Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) had decided to make Moral Science education in Hindi a compulsory subject for students from Class 9-12 for the academic session 2022-23.

Jagbir Singh, Chairman of the BSEH has said, questions worth 10 marks on moral education will be included in the Hindi Paper in the examination to be held from March 2023. A thorough viva from the moral education books prescribed by the board will also be conducted and attempting the questions on moral education will be a compulsory section to answer.

The BSEH chairman further added that information and citations from religious and universal values like the teachings of holy Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, Buddha, Mahavir and Jesus Christ, besides the importance of yoga and pranayama and motivational couplets on patriotism, environmental protection, etc. are included in the prescribed books of moral education.

Other chapters of moral education books will include health and yoga; Bharat Ratna, Madan Mohan Malaviya; the Birdman of India, Salim Ali; Veer Savarkar; Ashfaqulla Khan; Dr APJ Abdul Kalam; Havildar Abdul Hamid; Durgawati Devi; Dr Jagdish Chandra Bose; Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, etc. It is of great importance to know about the life history of these famous personalities, expressed the Chairman.

In the Social Studies subject, printing of recent historical past topic books has already been printed by the board. Mr. Singh further stated the social research topic consists of historical past, geography, political science and economics. In board examinations (including classes 9 and 10) questions having a weightage of 25 marks will be asked from the newly printed history books, added to the course.
