Admit cards have been released for the Graduate Aptitude Test – Biotechnology (GAT-B) and Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET).

The examinations are to be held at centres across India on April 23 in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.

The announcement has come a few days after the release of the advance intimation slip.

GAT-B and BET 2022 will be conducted for admissions to the Department of Biotechnology (DBT)-supported post-graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas.

DBT-supported postgraduate programmes include MSc in Biotechnology and allied areas, MTech in Biotechnology and allied areas, MSc in Agricultural Biotechnology and MVSc in Animal Biotechnology.

The admit cards are available for download at https://dbt.nta.ac.in/.

To download the admit cards, candidates must follow the steps below:

· Visit the official site of GAT-B and BET 2022: https://dbt.nta.ac.in

· Click on the ‘GAT - B & BET – 2022 Admit Card’ link available on its home page

· Enter application number, date of birth and security PIN and click on submit.

· The desired information will be provided.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has advised candidates to contact the helpline 011-4075 9000 or write to dbt@nta.ac.in in case of difficulty while downloading the admit card or in the event of finding discrepancies.

Candidates are also advised to preserve a copy of their admit card in good condition for future reference.

Eligibility:

GAT-B

· Candidates meeting the minimum eligibility criteria of participating institutions or universities are eligible to apply for GAT-B 2022.

· The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) are not responsible for the admission and selection process of participating institutions and universities.

· A candidate who has either appeared or is due to appear in the final examination of their qualifying degree is eligible to apply under the result awaited (RA) category.

BET

· The age limit is up to 28 years as on the last date of application for the General and EWS categories. An age relaxation of up to five years (33 years) is available for SC/ ST, differently abled and women candidates and up to three years (31 years) for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

· Candidates with Bachelors (B.E./ B.Tech./M.B.B.S) and Masters (M.Sc./ M.Tech./ M.VSc./M. Pharm./ Integrated M.Sc./ M.Tech.) in any discipline of Biotechnology and Life Sciences can appear for the test.

· A minimum score of 60% in aggregate (or equivalent grade) is required by the General, EWS and OBC categories and 55% for SC, ST and Differently Abled candidates

Candidates are also to note that the issue of Admit Cards does not necessarily mean acceptance of eligibility which shall be further scrutinized at later stages.

Duration and pattern:

Duration: Both GAT-B and BET will be three-hour exams.

Subject-wise distribution of questions:

GAT-B

Part A: 60 multiple choice questions of 10+2 level in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Each question carries one mark.

Part BL: Life Sciences, Biotechnology and allied areas as per the given syllabus. Students are to attempt 60 questions. Each question is worth three marks.

BET

Part A: 50 multiple choice questions of 10+2 level in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. Each question carries three marks.

Part B: 150 questions from specific areas of Biotechnology as per the syllabus given. Students are to attempt 50 questions. Each question carries three marks.

Total Marks:

Total marks of GAT-B and BET are at 240 and 300, respectively.
