Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has released the exam schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022, conducted annually by the leading seven IITs in India for admissions in postgraduate engineering courses and appointments in some Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

The exams will be conducted in two sessions from February 5, 2022 to February 13, 2022, a notification from IIT Kharagpur, the organising institute for GATE 2022, read. According to the schedule released on December 20, the first session of exams will be held from 9am to 12pm and the second session from 2.30pm to 5.30pm on February 5, 6, 12 and 13.

GATE is a national-level examination conducted jointly by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology – Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee – on behalf of National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

GATE 2022 will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT). At least two new papers, Geomatics Engineering and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, have been introduced in GATE, taking the total number of subjects to 29.

Important dates and instructions for candidates:

● Admit cards for the exams will be issued on January 3, 2022.

● Candidates will have to carry a hard copy of the hall ticket to the examination centre.

● Separate scores and rankings will be provided for candidates appearing for Geology and Geophysics (GG) papers

Direct recruitment to Group A level posts like senior field officer (Tele), senior research officer (Crypto) and senior research officer (S&T) in cabinet secretariat, government of India, will be done on the basis of GATE score.
