Edelweiss General Insurance (EGI) announced on June 29 that it has partnered with New-Age Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), Avanse Financial Services, to provide student travel insurance to all students who aspire to travel overseas for education. In the recent past, an increasing number of Indian students opt for higher education abroad. Industry research suggests that by 2024, the figure of students traveling abroad will skyrocket to 1.8 million, thereby, increasing the spending. Travel insurance thus, becomes imperative and invaluable to Indian students. EGI’s student travel insurance covers the students’ medical expenses as well as protects them from emergencies and losses. This newly-launched travel insurance offers complete coverage against medical, stay and travel inconvenience-related affairs, ensuring a hassle-free academic experience for students traveling abroad. Additionally, the students will have the option to customise their plan with added benefits and coverage based on their needs and requirements from their respective universities. “We are happy to partner with Avanse Financial Services in empowering the students to realise their aspirations of studying in universities overseas without having to worry about the financial stress arising out of studying and living overseas. These students are digital natives and, therefore, will like our paperless and digital processes. Our comprehensive plan has been designed to offer maximum coverage keeping in mind all requirements that students will have," said Shanai Ghosh, executive director and CEO of Edelweiss General Insurance. “As a student-centric organisation, we understand that traveling overseas as a student is a unique experience where one gets a chance to explore the world all by themselves. Hence, a student should be prepared for any uncertainty associated with travel, stay, and health. We have always believed in providing a holistic solution to students so that they can gear up for the new journey ahead. Our collaboration with Edelweiss General Insurance will enable us to deliver a quality customer proposition, thereby empowering the student to be future-ready,” said Amit Gainda, MD & CEO of Avanse Financial Services.
