Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, will host an international conference on thermos-fluids and system design, and related interdisciplinary advancements on March 22-23.

The conference will see participation from a wide range of research fields such as micromachining, fluid simulation, alternative energy, design analysis and micro to large scale industrial process development.

Sarit Kumar Das, professor, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and former director of IIT Ropar, will be the guest of honour. Sanak Mishra, former president Indian National Academy of Engineering and Indian Institute of Metals, will be the chief guest.

The keynote speech will be delivered by international and national speakers such as Brian Norton from Dublin Institute of Technology, Srinath from North Carolina State University, Prabal Talukdar from IIT Delhi and Ashok De from IIT Kanpur.

Ninety delegates — experts, teachers and students from across the world —will participate and present their research papers.

“The topics cover a broad spectrum related to fluid flow, heat transfer, materials engineering, mechanical design and process optimisation in science and engineering. Since the conference is multidisciplinary, it will serve as a platform to exchange innovative ideas and experiences among participants from around the globe. Alternative energy resources are vital for the conservation of the environment for coming generations. Therefore, these topics would gain special attention,” a spokesperson of BIT Mesra said.

Indranil Manna, the vice-chancellor of BIT Mesra; Dipti Prasad Mishra, head of the Mechanical Engineering department; and R.P. Sharma, professor of Mechanical Engineering; will grace the occasion.

Senior professors Lakhbir Singh Brar, Om Prakash, and Saurav Chakraborty will lead the conference as organising secretaries.

“We are proud to host an international conference and hope that it would serve as a common platform for the academia and industry from all over the world to participate and interact,” said Brar.

He said the conference would open new avenues to futuristic technologies and innovations.
