Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University Jharkhand is offering a part-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme for working professionals interested in management teaching, research and consultancy, the varsity said in a statement on April 15.

April 22 is the last date to apply for this programme. To be eligible for the course, candidates must have a Master's degree/Diploma/Professional qualification equivalent to a Master's degree from a recognised institution in management or allied subjects.

They should have at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Candidates with a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Degree in a related subject with at least 55% marks in aggregate can also apply for the course.

ORS Rao, vice-chancellor, ICFAI University Jharkhand, said, “Our PhD programme is considered one of the best PhD programmes for working professionals in India due to the flexibility offered without compromising on the quality and rigour of the programme. It is fully compliant with UGC Regulations 2016 and 2018.”

Upon admission, the scholars can choose their topic of interest which needs to be related to management. “Our PhD scholars have been working in senior roles in reputed companies like Accenture, Amazon, Cap Gemini, Coal India, Cognizant, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Ministry of Defence (Army and Air Force), HSBC, HDFC Bank, HP, IBM, IIM (Ahmedabad), Infosys, Jharkhand Govt, Govt of India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Jio, RBI, SBI, St Xavier’s College, TCS, Vodafone, WBSEB etc. Most of the topics that are taken up for research are relevant to the industry and the society and hence are inter-disciplinary, in nature,” the statement from ICFAI Jharkhand read.

So far, 38 scholars have been awarded PhD by the University. Applications for admission to the course need to be submitted online by visiting the ICFAI University Jharkhand website.

Arvind Kumar, registrar, ICFAI University Jharkhand, said, “All India Research Aptitude Test will be conducted online on May 14, with remote proctoring. Candidates can take the online test from home. Candidates that qualified in MPhil or UGC-NET are exempted from appearing for the entrance test. Interviews will be conducted online from May 30 and results will be declared by June 6.”

Once admitted, the scholars have to attend on-campus sessions from June 14.
