Sohini Sanjay Mohanty

Sohini Mohanty, a class 9 student from KIIT International School, Bhubaneswar, has accomplished in Tennis what most her age could only dream of. Hailing from Odisha, this tennis player has travelled far and wide across countries, all for her love of the sport. Speaking about her journey, Sohini says that the thing that keeps her going is the feeling she has right after winning, which is exhilarating. Gaining exposure and being able to play in different countries and adjusting there are things she counts as wonderful experiences. Sohini believes in being positive and perceives failures as a stepping stone for growth- an attitude often seen in the best sportspersons. Armed with her perseverance, Sohini is aiming to play in the junior grand slams and the WTA circuit as well. When asked about her success in the game, she credits her mother, who has been with her at every step including travelling with her for her tournaments and practice. Sohini’s mother also ensures that amidst her tennis practice sessions, she doesn’t miss out on her education, and thus has made her a schedule for studying and training. Sohini looks up to tennis players like Sania Mirza, Serena Williams, and Rafael Nadal and inspired by their fighting spirit, aims to make a place for herself in the world of Tennis as well.
