XLRI Jamshedpur has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with company Coal India Ltd (CIL) to strengthen the academia industry interface and relationship between the two institutes.

The director of XLRI, Fr Paul Fernandes and director (P&IR) Coal India Limited Vinay Ranjan signed the MoU.

As part of the understanding, XLRI will offer a customised training programme on Human Resource Management to the CIL officers in order to help them hone their leadership and management skills. Around 500 executives nominated by the Coal India’s HR department will be part of this programme which will be hosted at the XLRI Jamshedpur campus in different phases. The first cohort of this corporate training programme will begin in April 2022.

“As a thought-leader in HR, XLRI accepts requests from organisations for conducting customised training programmes for their executives at different levels, and offers unique programmes to suit the business and developmental needs of client organisations. I am happy to have joined hands with CIL and we will work together on building a strong academia-industry interface,” said Fernandes.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, dean academic - XLRI, Ashish K Pani, said, “Getting employees exposed to relevant and consistent training will help companies improve their performance and increase results in the workspace. This program will help in skill enhancement and drive better results.”

This event was attended among others by associate dean - corporate and virtual interactive learning (VIL) programme, M Srimannarayana, director of the programme, Anita Sarkar, head corporate programme, S. K Tiwary and head of the HR department, CIL, R K Dash.
