Ranchi-based Xavier Institute of Social Services (XISS) conducted an online National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) awareness workshop on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

This workshop was held in association with Kumarguru College of Technology, Coimbatore, a private engineering college under the auspices of Ramalinga Adigalar Foundation, a charitable educational trust of Sakthi Group in Tamil Nadu.

The introductory session began with a welcome address by the XISS dean - academics, Amar Tigga, who spoke about how online learning has enhanced for students and that the government has proposed NPTEL Exams for evaluation.

The principal of Kumarguru College of Technology, Saravanan D, in his address, spoke about how students are taking the NPTEL course as a source of their motivation and how it’s also helpful for faculty members.

Guest speaker Shib Shankar Das, IIT Kharagpur, spoke about the vision, mission, and objectives of NPTEL and how it is creating awareness to every student in the form of online learning.

Towards the end of the session, a question-and-answer round was organised after which Madhumita Singha, associate professor, XISS concluded the workshop with the vote of thanks.

NPTEL is a project of MHRD, initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 2003, to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs. The main goal was to create web and video courses in all major branches of engineering and physical sciences at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and management courses at the postgraduate level.
