National Institute of Technology (NIT) Andhra Pradesh has set up Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Academic Complex aimed at promoting digital technologies in education.
The facility was inaugurated on December 23 by former BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav.
During the inaugural ceremony, Madhav delivered a lecture on the National Education Policy on the topic, ‘New World Order – Post Covid Education in Particular’, as a part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations.
Madhav appreciated the efforts of the institute head and his team for building modern infrastructure and providing latest facilities in the NIT Andhra Pradesh campus. The government of India is providing all possible support to the higher educational institutes to help them make it to the list of top universities in the world, he said.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the new world order is being dominated by many technologies in a big way and digital technology is one among them, said Madhav. Digital technology has potential for application in many sectors such as education, defence, aerospace, healthcare, energy, security, agriculture and governance, he added.
In the future, Artificial Intelligence-based technologies will address societal problems as well as climate change issues. The rights of robots may promote a new expansion of the interrelated responsibilities of humans and machines, said Madhav.
“Individuals, governments and nations must be tuned in line with technological developments in the new world order. The developing countries should focus on both technologies and economy to become stronger nations. The academic institutes should encourage the students to carry out innovative projects through interdisciplinary approach,” added Madhav.
Speaking on the occasion, C.S.P. Rao, director, NIT Andhra Pradesh, said, “The institute is creating a good digital infrastructure in the campus and also conducting a lot of student-centric training programmes to enhance their skill set. Our institute is conducting all national mission-based events promoted by the Government of India such as Swachh Bharat, Make in India, Swachhta Pakhwada, Digital India, Fit India, Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav etc.”
R. Arun Kumar, associate dean, Faculty Welfare welcomed the gathering and Veeresh Kumar GB, dean, Student Affairs delivered the vote of thanks to the event.
