Moreover, the NVS has introduced modifications to the tie-breaking criteria in case of similar scores in the lateral entry selection test.

The criteria are as follows:

  • Preference will be given to female candidates over male candidates.
  • Candidates with higher marks out of 40 (excluding the Mental Ability Score) will be prioritised.
  • If a tie persists, the candidate with higher marks out of all five subjects, out of 100, will be favoured.
  • If the tie remains unresolved, preference will be given to the younger candidate.

Administrative reasons led to the postponement of the exams in West Bengal and Nainital district. However, for other districts, the lateral entry exam for class 9 for the academic year 2024-25 took place on February 10.
