The University of Madras signed an MoU with the University of Melbourne to research and explore the teaching and research opportunities on 12 September, 2022.

This partnership has come up after the universities declared a blended Bachelor of Science degree earlier this year, that offered equivalence across the disciplines of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

This study programme will also be offered to the 30 best students on the basis of their application along with their entrance score. Students who are successful in securing their place will commence the course from 20 September 2022. The Roaster system, as allowed by the government of Tamil Nadu, will also be followed.

As a part of this extended partnership, the two institutes will also cover additional academic and research opportunities, along with a cultural exchange of students and faculty throughout 86 departments at University of Madras.

It is via this MoU, that the two universities will explore the opportunity of joint PhD opportunities, knowledge sharing for early to mid-level researchers, workshops, flexibility options, along with study visits and staff exchanges.

“Our joint expertise enables students and faculty from both institutions to collaborate, learn from each other, and initiate research that has global relevance and critical impact,” said Professor Michael Wesley, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) at the University of Melbourne.
