Ladakh hosts Kala Utsav 2021 as part of Centre’s vision to promote arts in education
The department of school education, Ladakh hosted the UT (Union Territory) level Kala Utsav competition in the districts of Leh and Kargil on December 8 in both online and offline modes.
The department of school education and literacy, Union ministry of education (MOE), had launched Kala Utsav in 2015 under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan umbrella to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students at the secondary level in the country.
Safdar Ali, director of school education at UT Ladakh, spoke on the occasion, emphasising on the importance of the arts in the overall personality development of a child.
Juries from both the districts assessed the performances of the district finalists through live streaming as well as live performances.
Students of both the districts performed vocal music, traditional folk, instrumental music on traditional folk songs, folk dance, visual arts (2D), visual arts (3D), and indigenous toys and games.
The finalists will get the opportunity to take part in the national-level Kala Utsav 2021 through live streaming which will be held in January 2022.
