The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras marked the highest number of job offers amid the IIT Madras campus placements in the academic year with around 1,199 job offers from 380 organisations. The highest salary offered to students was USD 2, 50, 000 whereas the average salary stood at Rs 21.48 lakh per annum. The job opportunities were offered to students amid the phase 1 and phase 2 of the IIT Madras campus placement.

Nearly 80 percent of students who took part in the campus placement of IIT Madras in the academic session 2021-22 received job offers. The students from the institute were also given 231 pre-placement offers (PPOs) via students' summer internships. Out of all these offers 45 were international opportunities from 14 different organisations. These opportunities were made in phase 1 alone, 11 offers arrived from Rakuten Mobile Inc, Glean, Micron Technologies, Honda R-D, Cohesity, Da Vinci Derivatives, Accenture Japan, Hilabs Inc., Quantbox Research, MediaTek, Money Forward, Rubrik, Term Grid and Uber.

The management department of the institute marked 100 percent placement with all of its MBA students securing a placement. The placement job offers are critically higher in this academic session (2021-22) when weighed against the previous highest record of job offers set by IIT Madras placement amid the 2018-19 academic year by registering 1,151 job offers as claimed by IIT Madras. “Placements reflect a quantifiable outcome of the value-addition to students at an academic institution. We are thrilled that our students have done exceptionally well in the 2021-22 placements that have led to record-high job offers,” added CS Shankar Ram, outgoing advisor (placement), IIT Madras.
