The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has signed an MoU with Pramod Chaudhari, a distinguished alumnus of IIT Bombay and founder and chairman of Praj Industries, for establishing the Alumni Continuing Education Centre.

The centre will be christened Dr. Pramod Chaudhari Alumni Continuing Education Centre (PCACEC). It will conduct the Alumni Continuing Education (ACE) programme, aimed at facilitating the lifelong learning journey of IIT Bombay alumni at their alma mater.

Through this programme, the alumni can keep pace with technological advancements in engineering and science while understanding its implications on the world and specifically their businesses.

The centre also serves as a forum for cross-pollination of ideas, learnings and experiences among alumni from varied industries and backgrounds. This programme serves as a channel to connect the alumni community to the Institute.

Chaudhari will provide a one-time donation towards the ACE programme and IIT Bombay will provide a dedicated space for the programme, which will be branded as PCACEC.

Chaudhari has been a passionate supporter of the institute. He established the Parimal and Pramod Chaudhari Centre for Learning and Teaching (PPCCLT) in 2019. Earlier in 2015, he helped set up DBT-PAN IIT Centre For Bioenergy.

Praj Industries has helped set up a Bio Processing Laboratory at IIT Bombay in 2019, two Chair professorships in Green Chemistry and Industrial Biotechnology and Energy Science and Engineering and awards for recognising academic excellence among students.

“IIT Bombay’s alumni are our valued ambassadors. Our mission to achieve excellence together can only be furthered if there is continuous interaction between the Institute and its alumni. Thanks to Pramod Chaudhari’s generous support, this resolve has been made stronger. I am certain that together we will be able to create a community of mutual learning and growing,” IIT Bombay director Subhasis Chaudhuri said.

Pramod Chaudhari welcomed the initiative to launch the Alumni Continuing Education programme. “It is probably the first of its kind among the IITian fraternity and the most innovative concept. With a structured framework in place, I have no doubt that the Alumni Continuing Education programme will be a great success and will be instrumental in attaining further laurels for IIT Bombay,” he said.

Widely acclaimed as Ethanol Man, Pramod Chaudhari is a 1971 graduate of Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay.
