Prof. Nageshwar Rao stated during the opening event, "The School of Journalism and New Media Studies provides these programmes to support students' desire to specialising in a particular area of journalism. Since there are several lateral exit and entry possibilities available for these programmes through IGNOU, students are free to continue their studies whenever it is most convenient for them."
