According to ICAI president Debashis Mitra on Saturday, the organisation will host the 21st World Congress of Accountants (WCOA), also known as the Kumbh of accountants, for the first time in its 118-year history.

Following an outbid on France, the tournament will be held from 18 November to 21 November 2022.

The initiative will physically involve 6000 top accountants from 130 different nations. The newly constructed Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai would host the event, said Mitra.

Since its founding in 1904, the WCOA has been a venue for thought leadership and the international exchange of ideas. It is conducted every four years.

While 6000 delegates from around the world will attend the WCOA in person, another 10,000 are anticipated to participate electronically, according to Mitra. This time, he continued, the focus would be "Building Trust Enabling Sustainability."

The early bird registration date is 15 August 2022
