The Delhi University (DU) has opened up a portal for CUET admission tests for UG programmes for the academic year of 2022-23. After two long years, the CUET admissions will witness the comeback of of physical trials for the seats reserved for Sports and Extracurricular activities (ECA)

This particular academic year the intake of candidates via the sports and ECA quota is expected to be around 5 percent of the total, surpassing the one percent trend of years. This weightage of certificated and physical trials for the reserved seats stands at 75 percent, whereas the scores secured at CUET will be given 25 percent weightage.

These sports trials will have a weightage of 75 percent, while the remaining 25 percent will be accounted for the certificates earned by the candidate in the past five years. Students who have represented the country in various international competitions, such as Olympics and Commonwealth Games, will be granted admission without trials. These students will also be given preferences in the allocation of seats. Candidates willing to appear for the sports trials will be allowed to apply for a maximum of three different sports.

Excluding the NCC (National Cadet Corps) and NSS (National Service Scheme), candidates appearing for the physical trials will be given marks out of 60. The remaining 15 marks will be based on the certificates gained by the student in the past five years. Out of all the 14 categories allotted for the ECA trials, candidates will be permitted to apply for a maximum of 3. However, admission will be granted to the candidate only in one category.

The Sports and ECA quota seats are considered to be supreme in its nature. This directly highlights that the number of admissions conducted through the sports and ECA quota is different and far above the regular admission procedure. The allocation of all these seats will begin soon after the third round of the allocation of seats for regular admissions.
