The Telegraph Online Edugraph interacted with Dr Debanjan Chakrabarty, Director East and Northeast India, British Council present at the event on promoting student mobility between India and United Kingdom to which he added “The first step that the British Council is taking for promoting student mobility between India and UK is working on the Post study work visa. So if a student studies for an undergraduate course in the United Kingdom they can stay back for two years and if they engage in PHD they can still stay back for 3 years. I believe this itself is a huge driver for the Indian students. The one year masters which was not previously recognised in India is now recognised for most disciplines. The UK is India’s largest Bilateral research partner and that’s a long term relationship which the Indian research sector has with the United Kingdom which goes on to create real attraction for Indian students to study abroad”.

The British Council has a long-standing history of building relationships with international alumni of UK universities. Last year, the British Council globally launched the Alumni UK platform. From 27 October 2022 till 26 February 2023 the global Alumni UK platform has received nearly 1500 registrations from India. The platform is open to all international UK alumni who have spent at least one term studying at a UK higher education institution, including transnational education and online learning.Individuals can grow their professional networks and connect with people living in every corner of the world who have studied at a UK university. They also get a chance to collaborate on tackling global challenges.
