Bharathiar University, a Coimbatore-based educational institute, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) on March 24 to offer its students a wide range of disciplinary courses in business analytics accredited by the Institute of Analytics (IoA) apart from their skill enrichment.

The MoU was signed between Rupa Gunaseelan, professor and director, BSMED, Bharathiar University, and Shone Babu, head of Partnerships, ISDC. ISDC has been working with various Indian universities and educational institutes to bridge the skill gap across sectors.

According to the curriculum timeline, students will gain in-depth knowledge of a variety of programmes related to analytics that will enable them to navigate the business environment with the help of analytics tools and techniques. Industry professionals and trainers from ISDC will offer the courses in a blended mode by conducting seminars, interactive workshops, as well as corporate engagement.

The Institute of Analytics (IoA) is a professional body for analytics and data science professionals in the United Kingdom and internationally, with over 4,500 members globally. It is a non-profit organization that promotes awareness, understanding, and innovation in analytics. IoA is fully supported by leading organizations of this domain in its mission. The institute offers students the opportunity to connect with other professionals in the industry, grab career development opportunities, exchange knowledge and expertise, get information about the current professional development programmes etc.

Talking about the partnership, K Kaliraj, vice-chancellor, Bharathiar University, said that this partnership will provide the opportunity for students to learn domain-specific topics, enabling them to obtain better employment opportunities in India and abroad.

Tom Joseph, executive director – strategy and development, ISDC, also said that they are confident about the collaboration and expect it to pave the way for Bharathiar University students to explore their talents and gain experience in a rapidly growing global industry.
