MM Hasan, head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, JMI and Shambhunath Barman, head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, NIT Sikkim, welcomed the industry expert and highlighted the significance of Industry-Institute Interaction Activities (IIIA) and advised the students for participating actively in such events which are being organised by the department.

Moorthi is currently working as senior technical engineer, Nuclear Core Thermal Hydraulics, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Facilities (BARCF), a prestigious research centre of the department of atomic energy, Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu. He is an expert in computational and experimental thermal hydraulics studies related to R&D in the field of nuclear systems and safety of pressurised water reactors (PWR).

In addition to his contribution to the scientific research in the field of nuclear core thermal hydraulics, Moorthi has made immense contributions in the code development and analysis of core at system level and sub-channel level for steady state and transient operating conditions.

Moorthi has delivered various lectures in the areas of nuclear reactor engineering and safety. He has published many articles in international journals and conference papers and many research reports. He is a recipient of Group Achievement Award-2014 for the activity titled ‘High Temperature High Pressure Test Facility and Thermal Hydraulic Studies’ and has also received Group Achievement Award-2018 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the department programme. He is a member of Indian Nuclear Society (INS) Mumbai.

The event was coordinated by SM Muzakkir and Anil Kumar Sharma. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Anil Kumar Sharma.
