The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur is offering a special scholarship programme for students ranked among the top 100 in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2021.

Ten students will be selected for the scholarship.

IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar took to Twitter to make the announcement. “IIT Kanpur is delighted to announce the ‘Bright Minds Scholarships’ programme. These are 10 prestigious and highly sought-after academic scholarships for students within the top 100 AIR in JEE Advanced 2021,” he tweeted.

"The special scholarships are being established with support from our alumnus Lokvir Kapoor. The scholarships are aimed at encouraging and rewarding meritorious students. The scholarships take care of all the expenses, including Tuition and Living, during their stay at IIT Kanpur. This is a first-of-its-kind initiative towards encouraging and rewarding academic excellence," Karandikar said.

Bright Minds Scholarships will be awarded to selected candidates admitted to the BTech or BS programmes for the 2021-22 academic session. The scholarship programme will ensure that meritorious student are not deprived of an opportunity to continue their education because of financial constraints. Each of the eligible students will be awarded an annual scholarship amount of Rs 3 lakh, which would cover their expenses during the undergraduate course. Scholarship will be paid only to those students whose parents’/guardian's income from all sources does not exceed Rs 20 lakh annually.

IIT Kharagpur launched a full-ride scholarship for the top 100 JEE (Advanced) rankers admitted to the BTech course at the institute.

The Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Full Scholarship, announced on the occasion of the 71st Foundation Day of IIT Kharagpur, will support those who’ve ranked within the top 100 in JEE Advanced across India and whose parents’ gross annual income is below Rs 20 lakh.

The IIT Kharagpur scholarship will cover all expenses while the beneficiary completes BTech at the institute. This scholarship will be implemented from the 2021-22 academic session.

Such scholarships are aimed at changing the education system and make it more know-drive.
