St Francis Xavier School hosted the CISCE National Lawn Tennis Tournament which was held from the 26th of September to the 30th of September 2022 at the Bengal Tennis Association.

The tournament was inaugurated by Shri Manoj Tiwary, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Affairs on the 26th of September at 10 am. St Francis Xavier School hosted the regional (West Bengal & NE Region) leg of the Lawn Tennis Tournament in the years 2019 and 2022.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on 30 September and was headed by the legendary tennis player, coach and manager Shri Jaideep Mukherjea.

Approximately 240 students from all over India and the UAE had registered to participate in the event in the Boys & Girls Under 14,17 & 19 categories. The winners of this tournament would be representing CISCE at the SGFI and the Khelo India Games.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (Council ) has stressed imparting holistic and wholesome education to students. Sports, therefore, has become an integral part of the curriculum for a CISCE-affiliated school.

The Council aims to provide a suitable platform and opportunity for all children studying in its affiliated schools to showcase their talents and skills in the various sporting disciplines. Once identified, the next step would be to play on a bigger stage and represent the Council at the annual National School Games conducted by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and thereafter at the Khelo India School Games.

Through its affiliated schools, the Council arranges regional and national level tournaments in the sporting disciplines of Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Carom, Chess, T20 Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Kabaddi, Karate, Kho-Kho, Lawn Tennis, Rugby, Shooting, Skating, Swimming & Diving, Taekwondo, Throwball, Volleyball and Yoga.
