The Presidency University Marine Ecology Laboratory organised Aquamania’22, in association with Aquaphile, to celebrate World Ocean Day. The event was aimed at highlighting marine plastic pollution, climate change and marine bio invasion.
Insightful talks were delivered by eminent professors Sumit Mandal, Priyank Patel and Kousik Pramanick. “We are trying to create awareness among people to conserve our oceanic realm for a better future,” said Mandal, associate professor, Life Sciences, Presidency University.
A quiz competition was also held and students and scholars presented research papers.
“At a time when we’re drowning marine ecosystems in trash, noise, oil, and carbon emissions, such events are a hope for a better future,” said Debkanya Sengupta, PG2, Life Sciences, Presidency University.
