IIT Roorkee has initiated the online Registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2025) on its official website. Through this examination, students will be admitted to ME/MTech and PhD courses at various IITs and other other reputed institutes across the country.

Also, students appearing in the GATE exam can use their GATE score for recruitment to various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) as engineers.

Hence, considering the varied opportunities, GATE is considered one of the most sought after competitive exams in the country.

The GATE Exam 2025 is scheduled to be conducted on February 1, 2, 15 and 16, 2025 and will be held for three hours.

Eligibility Conditions

To appear in the exam, candidates must have have completed their Graduation from a recognised university. Candidates appearing in the final year of the exam are also eligible to sit in the exam.

Papers

The GATE 2025 examination will conducted for 30 test papers. A candidate can choose to appear either in one or can also appear in upto two test papers. Candidates opting to appear in Two test papers must have a primary choice of test paper. The second test paper must be chosen from the allowed combinations.

Marks Distribution

The Examination will consist of Non Technical questions and questions from the Core disciplines.

This includes

Non Technical (General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and English) - 30 Marks

Core discipline (From the subject chosen by the candidate) - 70 marks

The questions from the core discipline will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Question (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

There will be One Mark and Two Mark questions. For every wrong answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted for One-mark questions and 2/3 Marks will be deducted for two-mark questions.
