Summary
The UAE Ministry of Education has announced the extension of distance learning across the country.
The decision applies to all educational institutions, including nurseries, kindergartens, and both public and private schools nationwide.

The UAE Ministry of Education has announced the extension of distance learning across the country until April 17, 2026, citing safety concerns amid the ongoing US–Iran conflict. The decision applies to all educational institutions, including nurseries, kindergartens, and both public and private schools nationwide.

The announcement was made through the ministry’s official social media platform, where it confirmed that students, along with teaching and administrative staff, will continue with remote learning arrangements until the specified date. The ministry emphasised that the move is aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students, educators, and school personnel during the evolving situation.

Authorities have stated that the situation will be monitored closely, with weekly reviews in place to assess developments. Based on these assessments, further decisions regarding the mode of learning will be taken to ensure minimal disruption to the academic calendar while maintaining safety.

The extension follows an earlier shift to remote learning that began on March 2, 2026. The arrangement was further continued at the start of the third academic term on March 23, after the spring break was rescheduled a week earlier due to escalating regional tensions. During this period, schools adapted quickly to online education, with students and teachers attending classes from various locations, including different countries and time zones.

Previously, authorities had planned to continue distance learning until April 3, with a review scheduled before making further decisions. The latest extension reflects the government’s cautious approach in response to the ongoing geopolitical developments.
