Graduating students of the 2020 and 2021 batches at Universal Business School (UBS), Mumbai, attended a joint offline convocation ceremony recently. The on-campus event celebrated the graduation of more than 400 students.

The chief guest at the event was Bharath Uppiliappan, CEO of Dr Lal Pathlabs Limited. The institute also invited Krishnan Govindhan, business head at Larsen & Toubro Financial Services and former CEO of Hi-Care India, as the guest of honour. Other guests included 10 classmates of Tarun Anand, chairman and founder of UBS, and Sriram Ramshankar, COO, UBS. The SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai 1996 alumni were there to encourage the graduating students.

Over 200 students attended the event. Students were felicitated by faculty and guests, after which they took part in the traditional graduating hat-throwing. The event included dance performances, a performance by a band and a dance party. UBS organised the offline convocation ceremony to give the graduating students a proper send-off.

To ensure the safety of those in attendance, the UBS authorities required students and guests to have tested COVID-19 negative.

Some guests associated with renowned institutions and organisations were Sandhya Malik, vice-president, business transformation, at HDFC Bank; Lakshmi Iyer, head — Mergers & Acquisitions at Sterlite Technologies Limited; Jyothi Iyengar, vice-president and finance coach at My Financial Advisor (MFA), and former assistant director, industry engagements, SPJIMR; Deepak Alva, general manager — planning, forecasting and credit control at Meril Life-sciences Limited; Mangesh Pathak, chief strategy officer at Prime Focus Technologies; Niraj Somaiya, CEO at Rosy Blue Securities, Singapore, and Kingshuk Ganguly, chief executive officer, Lightbulb Moments Consulting, and former director — human resources at Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited (CRISIL).
