The Supreme Court is set to hear a plea regarding the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 examination on Friday, August 9. The NEET PG 2024 examination is scheduled for August 11, 2024, and will be conducted in two shifts. The court has agreed to address this request following an urgent petition presented by advocate Anas Tanwir to Chief Justice DY Chandrachud on Thursday.

The bench, which includes Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, considered the arguments put forth by Tanwir. The petitioners have highlighted the difficulties faced by candidates due to the limited time for travel to their exam centres. The list of allocated cities was released on July 31, with specific test centre details and admit cards issued only on August 8.

In addition, the petitioners have requested that the normalisation formula for the four sets of question papers be disclosed to prevent any potential arbitrariness in the examination process.

Originally scheduled for June 23, 2024, the NEET PG 2024 exam was postponed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) as a precautionary measure in response to concerns about the integrity of competitive exams in the country.

The Supreme Court's three-judge bench, led by CJI DY Chandrachud, will hear the postponement plea today after 10.30AM.
