How to Check the WBCAP Round 2 Merit List 2024
- Applicants must visit the official website at wbcap.in.
- Log in with the candidates’ registered credentials. The merit list will be prominently displayed on the dashboard.
- Each applicant is provisionally allotted a seat based on their rank and their preferred colleges and courses, as indicated during the application process. It is essential for candidates to carefully review the allocated college and programme to ensure it aligns with their academic goals.
- Candidates satisfied with their allotted seat should confirm their acceptance online to secure their spot.
- Those who wish to explore alternative choices can decline the seat and participate in the next rounds of the admission process.
The second round of undergraduate admissions in West Bengal saw a considerable spike in interest, with over 27,000 new applicants joining this phase. The application window, which ran from August 8 to August 17, saw a total of 2,24,886 applications, with 27,322 new registrations from students who had not participated in the first round.
Further, this round was marked by a notable increase in subject-specific applications, with students allowed to apply for up to 25 subjects. As compared to the first round, more students optimised this flexibility offered in round 2, which has been attributed to heightened awareness and extensive outreach efforts.
Important Dates for WBCAP Round 2 Merit List 2024
- Seat allotment will be conducted from August 20 to August 23.
- The institution-wise and course-wise seat allotment for the upgrade round (Phase 2) will be published by August 27 (up to 4 PM).
- Students interested in upgrading their seats can do so between August 27 and August 30.
- Document verification process is scheduled for September 3 to September 7 at the respective colleges.
In the first round, despite 409,464 students securing their preferred colleges and subjects, over 13,500 failed to complete the admission process. Of those enrolled, 387,464 students successfully completed in-person verification and have already begun classes.
