According to new rules that the University Grants Commission (UGC) is scheduled to announce on Monday, students who want to graduate with honours in any field must enrol in four-year undergraduate programmes (FYUP)

However, the change will not affect students who have been accepted into the four-year undergraduate programmes provided by Delhi University, which allows graduation with honours even to those exiting after six semesters or three years, according to Yogesh Singh, the university's vice-chancellor.

"Students who wish to undergo a 3-year UG programme will be awarded UG Degree in the Major discipline after successfully completing three years, securing 120 credits, and satisfying the minimum credit requirement," states the proposal UGC regulations on curriculum and credit framework for undergraduate programmes.
