NEET-UG 2022 on July 17, registration begins

The registration process for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to undergraduate courses in medical colleges, scheduled to be conducted on July 17, has begun, the National Testing Agency (NTA) stated in a circular recently.   

The exam, held for admission to MBBS courses across India, will be conducted in a total of 13 languages -- English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu – at centres across the country.

The entrance test shall consist of 200 multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology). The duration of the Examination will be 200 minutes and it will be held from 2pm to 05.20pm, NTA stated in its circular.

The exams will be held at centres across a total of 543 cities in India and 14 cities outside India, the circular further read. Besides India, students can appear for the exam at centres in UAE, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Nepal, Malaysia, Kuwait, Nigeria, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Singapore, the NTA circular said.

As per the circular from NTA, the last date for submission of online application form is May 6 while the last day for payment of exam fee is May 7. General category students appearing for the exam in India will have a pay a fee of Rs 1,600, while those appearing for the exam outside India will have to pay an exam fee of Rs 8,500.

“Candidates must strictly follow the instructions given in the information bulletin and on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified," a senior NTA official said.

"Candidates must ensure that the e-mail address and mobile number provided in the online application form are their own or of parents and guardians only as all information and communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on the registered mobile number only," the official added.

Last year, the NEET-Undergraduate exam was held on September 12, with over 95% of the registered candidates appearing for it. Over 15.44 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam which was conducted at 3,858 centres in 13 languages in 2021. Over 8.70 lakh candidates had cleared the exam.
