The Supreme Court of India is set to resume hearing the petition filed by NEET PG 2024 aspirants against the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), demanding transparency in the exam process. The petition seeks the disclosure of the answer key and raw marks for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET PG), citing the need for greater clarity in the evaluation system.

A group of 19 NEET PG 2024 candidates approached the apex court, asking for the introduction of a re-evaluation facility for those dissatisfied with their results. The petition also requests that NBEMS release answer keys for all future exams to ensure transparency in the national level medical entrance exam.

Earlier, on September 13, the Supreme Court heard the matter and requested a response from NBEMS. The candidates expressed concerns about the inflation of ranks and questioned the normalisation method employed by the board.

The results of NEET PG 2024, which were declared on August 23, showed that more than 2,16,094 candidates appeared for the exam, with over two thousand scoring above the 99th percentile. The board had announced the use of the normalisation process, similar to that of AIIMS, in the evaluation process for NEET PG.

Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to begin NEET PG 2024 counselling today, September 20, on the official website, mcc.nic.in, although the detailed schedule is yet to be uploaded. The counselling will facilitate admissions to 50% of the All India Quota (AIQ) seats for postgraduate medical programmes.

Candidates are eagerly awaiting further updates as they continue to press for more transparent evaluation processes.
