JGLS inks MoUs with 10 foreign universities to provide global exposure to its students

Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) in Sonipat, Haryana, has inked memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with at least 10 foreign universities spread across six countries in a bid to provide global exposure to its students, a press communique from JGLS stated on February 7.

The law institute has collaborated with universities from Canada, Italy, Peru, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America as a part of its global ambitions.

C Raj Kumar, founding dean of JGLS, said, “Whenever we reached out to partner institutions in the world, their affirmative response and commitment to jointly implement the ideas proposed was truly refreshing. This acceptance is a testimony of our hard work.”

JGLS has inked a total of 40 MoUs with different institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic and collaborated with more than 250 institutions since its inception in 2009, the institute stated in its communique.

In the fresh set of MoUs inked recently, JGLS has collaborated with Faculty of Law, University of Calgary, Canada; Universit degli Studi Suor Orsola Benincasa, Italy; School of Law, Pontificia Universidad Cat lica del Per , Peru; College of Law, National Chengchi University, Taiwan; School of Law, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan; The University of Edinburgh, UK; The University of Nottingham, UK; American University Washington College of Law, USA; Drexel University, USA, and Seattle University School of Law, USA.

“Partnerships with School of Law, Seattle University, and Faculty of Law, University of Calgary, provide an accelerated Juris Doctor (JD) degree programme which brings JGLS students one step closer to practicing law in the United States and Canada,” JGLS stated in its communique.

Besides, Student exchange programmes with American University Washington College of Law, and College of Law, National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taiwan offers learning experience in a global setting.

According to JGLS, about 40 students of the institute explored student exchange options and more than 25 students pursued advanced degree programmes at institutions in Australia, UK, and USA since 2020 through partnership arrangements.

Malvika Seth, associate dean (International Collaborations), JGLS, said that in the last two years, students have had limited access to international programmes because of uncertainties and restrictions owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our vision since late 2020 has been to prepare for the post-COVID era and welcome students with a higher number of partnerships than before. Our partners are excited to have international students back on their campuses. With our new collaborations, we continue to strengthen our bonds with countries and top institutions around the world,” she said.

Sreejith SG, executive dean, JGLS, said that the institute explored opportunities to recover all the possibilities of learning that were lost during the COVID-19 pandemic.
