The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jodhpur, is offering 8 unique BTech multi-disciplinary programmes aligned with emerging technology trends.
With design thinking and social connect embedded in the curriculum, these programmes aim to produce global engineers who will be technology leaders and innovators with empathy and sensitivity for sustainable development.
The flagship BTech courses offered by IIT Jodhpur are Bioengineering, AI and Data Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil and Infrastructure Engineering.
The courses address the requirements of a modern engineering curriculum such as flexibility to understand and manage rapidly evolving technologies, ability to identify, define as well as solve problems, proficiency in theory and applications, skill for handling out-of-the-box engineering challenges, creative thinking, experience of entrepreneurship and understanding of public policy implications.
Entrepreneurship education has also been introduced in the IIT Jodhpur curriculum. Such continual integrative experiences help students to expand and deepen their “internal knowledge structure” and aid their eventual retrieval and use.

The curriculum at IIT Jodhpur stresses the fundamentals of basic and engineering sciences to enable students to have a broader multi-disciplinary perspective for the specialisation being pursued. The early design courses focus heavily on conceptual design methods and less on discipline-specific artEfacts. These courses teach the students to think and work like engineers.
The curriculum also creates avenues for engaging students in intellectual processes at an increasingly sophisticated level through design credits.
The integrated BTech programmes also focus on developing greater technical depth by offering Department Area Specialisation leading to five-year BTech + MTech, which allows students to pursue an in-depth study of the topics of interest belonging to the program,e.
Innovation through Specialisation in Engineering Innovation has also been introduced with an aim to make students industry-ready by offering a five-month practical project jointly with an Industry or R&D organisation. This gives students real-world experience.
A Double BTech with a second degree in Engineering Science is also on offer at IIT Jodhpur to help students apply diverse knowledge and skills flexibly in novel situations.
