The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has made it possible for students to withdraw from the BTech program after three years and receive a BSc (Engineering) instead of an engineering degree, according to the New Education Policy 2020 rules.

According to the NEP 2020 guidelines from the education ministry, the UGC's recommendations made reference to a choice where a student could either complete the four-year program to become an honours graduate or exit the bachelor of honours program in major subjects after three years as a graduate. Those who continue their education will receive an honors diploma or a "honors with research."

15 IIT Bombay students may have already exercised the early exit option, according to sources. According to the report, IIT Bombay's early exit policy will also enable students to take part in institute placements.
