The MA in Development Journalism, the MA in Journalism and Electronic Media, and the MA in Journalism and Digital Media, along with a PG Diploma in Advertising and Integrated Communication, are three specialised master's degrees in journalism introduced by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

According to a news release from the university, these programmes will be made available in open and distance learning formats beginning with the January 2023 admission season through IGNOU regional centers.

Three specialised master's degree programmes were introduced by IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Nageshwar Rao during a ceremony on Friday.

Prof. Nageshwar Rao stated during the opening event, "The School of Journalism and New Media Studies provides these programmes to support students' desire to specialising in a particular area of journalism. Since there are several lateral exit and entry possibilities available for these programmes through IGNOU, students are free to continue their studies whenever it is most convenient for them."
