The Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi organised LIT-NITE ’21, a three-day virtual literature festival from December 17 to 19. The event consisted of shayari and poetry performances, open mics and plays by the students of the institute. 

The first day of the event started with an intriguing sher by Samar Pandey, followed by a poem from the audience on Ravana, as the main character. Another student presented a beautiful inspirational poem on Hindutva.

Ritik P. Nayak presented an oration of a classic introductory poem. Siddhant Abhinav Dungdung performed a poetic tale on behalf of the audience, followed by a stand up comedy set on people at the wedding of Vickey and Katrina by another student. On the same day, Rohit Kumar recited poetry on “Tears should not be on display.” Followed by this, a group of students performed a melodic song.

Harshwardhan Pandey delivered a shayari before the audience, followed by a beautiful poem recited by another female student. At the end of the first day one, the stage was then open to all to come forward and perform. 

The second day started with a Hindi theatre play on ‘Offline Degree vs Online degree’. The drama involved characters from the popular sitcom ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chasma’. There were other popular characters like Lalu Yadav, ACP Pradhyuman etc. Followed by this was an English satire on petrol price hike. All performances were done by the students from various departments of the institute. 

The third day had a Kavi Sammelan where more than 45 participants took turns to read out their self-composed poem. A student performed ghazals and left the crowd applauding. The three day event ended with more poetry reading from the students.
