In a spellbinding performance at the inaugural session of Saaz-Sargam, an inter-school instrumental music competition, Padma Bhushan awardee Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt showcased his virtuosity on the Mohan Veena, leaving the audience mesmerized at the G.D. Birla Auditorium. Accompanied by the renowned percussionist Pandit Subhen Chatterjee on the tabla, the evening unfolded with a self-created raga Vishwa-Ranjini. Pandit Bhatt's rendition of a segment from his Grammy Award-winning piece, "A Meeting by the River," resonated through the auditorium. Engaging the audience, he even presented a ghazal, creating a delightful and participative atmosphere. The performance concluded with the soul-stirring "Vande Mataram," marking a truly enchanting afternoon of Indian Classical Music.

The one-and-a-half-hour musical extravaganza, featuring various ragas, provided a heartwarming treat for the audience. Pandit Subhen Chatterjee's distinctive style added an extra layer of charm to the melody feast, enriching the overall experience.

Following this enthralling performance, the stage transformed into the competitive arena of Saaz-Sargam, where six schools—The BSS School, Gokhale Memorial Girls' School, DPS (Ruby Park), Sri Sri Academy, D.A.V. Public School, and the host school South Point High School participated. The competition featured two rounds: Participants’ Choice and Judges’ Choice.
