On 5 June 2023, Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Chancellor, S-VYASA University, Bangalore, visited Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata, on the occasion of World Environment Day and addressed the students, faculty members, and staff on 'Awakening Self through Yoga, Spirituality and Education'. Dr. Nagendra also planted a Shiv Linga tree on the occasion of World Environment Day at the Heritage campus.
During the inaugural address, Dr. H.R. Nagendra spoke about the role of education in changing the overall personality of students. He also said how Yoga and Spirituality play an important role in education. Speaking on the subject of pollution, addiction to mobile phones, and many other areas where students are facing problems, he stressed on the fact that it is very much important to plant trees and prevent global warming which is affecting human mankind adversely and also advised the students to minimise the use of mobile phones and enhance the application of Yoga for spiritual well being.
Dr. N.K.Manjunath, Pro Vice Chancellor, S-VYASA University, Dr. R.M.Acharya, Director, VYASA, Delhi, and Dr. Abhijit Ghosh, Director, VYASA, Kolkata, was also present during the session.
