Tapolabdha Sardar

An introvert through and through, Tapolabdha Sardar finds peace and self-expression through her classical music. She believes that “music is the only medicine that our heart and soul needs”, but she doesn’t just want to stop at that. This confident and self-assured 16-year-old is reaching for the stars. She aspires to pursue both classical music and studying to be a cardiologist with the same dedication and zeal that her mother and her teachers have inculcated in her. Tapolabdha won her first musical competition at the age of seven and has not looked back since. In 2019, she wowed the audiences with her performance in Superstar Singer, earning herself a spot on the classical and semi-classical music map of the country. She started training at the age of four, inspired by her mother, herself a classical singer who had to give up music owing to circumstances. Her mother was also her first guru. Today Tapolabdha is a student of Shrutinandan, the prestigious music school in Kolkata, run by Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. To Tapolabdha, music is magic. And this love that she feels for her music is clear from the way her face lights up every time she talks about it. In fact, in quiet moments, she can sometimes be found humming under her breath while a sense of calm settles on her face. Tapolabdha has consistently won The Telegraph in Schools Challenge from 2018 to 2020 as an achiever and star performer. In 2020, she also won the first season of Sangg Geet Junior, an online music competition held during the pandemic, which saw participants from across the length and breadth of the country. Among her peers and teachers, Tapolabdha is known for being a sincere and obedient child, friendly and humble despite her many achievements.
