State higher secondary council announces exam regulations for segmented plus-II course

The state higher secondary council on Thursday announced its exam regulations for the segmented plus-II course.

“A student who will not be able to clear any of the subject(s) in semester I (pass marks is 30 per cent), will be allowed to appear for a supplementary examination along with the semester II examination in the same year. After appearing in this supplementary examination, if the student is still not able to clear any of the subject(s) of semester I, and/or, if the student is having any backlog papers in semester II, then he/she needs to appear all the subjects of the semester I and semester II in the next academic year like a fresh candidate,” say the regulations.

“A student who has passed semester I and semester II of Class XI, can be admitted to semester III within 31th October every year so that the classes of the fourth semester can be started from the 1st week of November every year,” say the regulations.

The supplementary exams in Class XI will be conducted by the respective institutions. 

“A student who will not be able to clear any of the subject(s) in semester III, will be allowed to appear for a supplementary examination along with the semester IV in the same academic year. After appearing in the supplementary examination, if the student is still not able to clear any subject(s), then he/she has to appear in those subjects with semester III in the next academic year,” the regulations say.

“After appearing in this supplementary examination in the next academic year, if the student is not able to clear any of the subject(s), he/she has to appear in the supplementary examinations for those subject(s) along with semester IV in the same academic year.”

The students will get the opportunity to clear their backlog papers within a maximum period of seven years both in Classes XI and XII from the year of registration, said a council official.

The supplementary exams in Class XII will be conducted by the council.

A student will be tested on multiple-choice questions in the first semester and short-answer and descriptive questions in the second semester. Schools will conduct these exams.

A similar pattern will be followed in the third and fourth semesters. These exams will be conducted by the council.

The exam regulations said a student who has completed Madhyamik or an equivalent examination may be admitted within the middle of May every year.
