RISE 2023 (RE-Imagining School Education) is an initiative started by Alliance Française de Delhi and One Teacher One Scientist. Meant to be a platform for sharing ideas, fostering dialogue and embracing innovation in the field of education, it will be held from November 17 to 19 at the Alliance Française campus in Delhi’s Lodhi Estate and be curated by writer and educationist, Vaishali Gupta. Gupta is also founder of One Teacher One Scientist, which is the pedagogy partner.

The theme is “Global Citizenship in Indian Schools”. The collaboration with Unesco MGIEP underscores the event’s international significance.

The festival will be attended by eminent personalities, speakers and educationists, such as Junhi Han  (Unesco), Patrick Mitchell (Newcastle University, UK), Nandini Chatterjee Singh (Unesco MGIEP), Shyama Chona (founder of Tamana), Gowri Ishwaran (Shiv Nadar Foundation), Mohan Kumar (OP Jindal University), Oscar Pujol (Institute Cervantes), Ameeta Wattal (DLF Foundation), Sandhya Awasthi (DPS Greater Noida), Abha Adams (Ahvaan Education Foundation), Richa Agnihotri (Sanskriti School), Amita Mishra (Cambridge School DPS International), Asha Pandey (Sanskrit educator) and Shikha Jain (DRONAH).

NGOs such as Pratham, Save the Children, Room to Read and TARA are also expected to share their experiences and ideas at RISE 2023.

Scheduled sessions include “Parenting in the 21st Century” by Shyama Chona, “Social and Emotional Wellness at Home” by Inner Journeys School of Soul Sciences, “Neuroscience based tips and pointers” by Patrick Mitchell and Nandini Chatterjee Singh, “Experiential storytelling for children” by Culture Monks, “Tips on integrating the SDGs in the school curriculum” by Unesco MGIEP, “Classroom enquiry and reflections” by Vaishali Gupta, “Understanding the role of art in bridging boundaries and art as a medium of self-expression” by Vladimir Zaitsez from the Lycée Français International de Delhi and Argha Ganguly and the Design Village.

A special financial literacy session for children is being organised by DBS bank, there will be career counselling sessions, theatre workshops by Patrick Beck and others, a tete-a-tete with children’s writer Sutapa Basu, a heritage walk by Novina Jafa and nature walks by OTOS. Sessions on French cuisine; martial arts and self-defence; yoga and wellness; and climate literacy sessions have also been planned.

Leading puppeteer Dadi Pudumjee has conceptualised a puppet show for the occasion.
