"Students were disappointed after the postponement of the exam. Some of them are nervous and we hope they fare well," said Seema Sapru, principal of The Heritage School.

Students in many prominent schools will appear for the psychology exam.

Several school principals said that the "examination halls" have been left out of bounds for the rest of the school as the new academic session started this week in many schools.

Shaw Public School has deferred the reopening of the primary section because of the psychology paper.

"We have classrooms on the same floor as the examination hall. If classes are held there it can disturb the examinees. So, the classes on that floor have been shifted to the primary building," said Tapashi Sengupta, principal, Shaw Public School.

The council sent the new question paper to the conveners that was distributed to the schools on Tuesday to be kept in the bank.

The schools will withdraw the question papers from the bank on Thursday, a few hours before the exam.

The schools had to return the March 27 question paper to the conveners. They will be sent back to the council.

A day after the postponement of the examination, the council in a circular to conveners had asked them to "advise all who are involved in the conduct of the examination to understand their duties and responsibilities and strictly follow the CISCE rules for the conduct of the Examination at the centre".

Psychology is the second paper in the 2024 ISC examination that was rescheduled. The chemistry paper was put off one-and-a-half hours before the exam because of "unforeseen circumstances".
